Our mission
To help orphaned children and children who lack the means to access education and the basic support they need to build a better future.
Nurturing hope, shaping futures
Bakazi Foundation grew from personal experience, gratitude and a belief that every vulnerable child deserves the education and support they need to build a brighter future.
Our founder, Bakazi Kizito Bridget, grew up with her mother and experienced how difficult it can be for a family to meet school fees, scholastic materials and other essential needs.
An organisation stepped in and supported her education through university. That opportunity shaped her life and showed her what can happen when someone believes in a child at the right time.
While at university, Bridget met children in villages who were passionate about learning but held back by circumstances beyond their control. Bakazi Foundation grew from her decision to help create for them the same kind of opportunity that once changed her own future.
To help orphaned children and children who lack the means to access education and the basic support they need to build a better future.
To see every vulnerable and orphaned child in Uganda have access to quality education, the support they need to thrive, and the opportunity to build a better and brighter future.
“Because someone once believed in me and helped me, I developed a deep desire to do the same for other children.”
Bridget was raised by her mother, who worked hard but often struggled to pay school fees and provide the materials she needed. Bridget remained determined to study. With support from an organisation, she stayed in school and eventually reached university.
At university, she encountered children in villages with strong dreams and a genuine passion for education. Their families could not always afford school or basic necessities. Bridget could not support every child alone, but she could not ignore what she saw. Her own experience inspired her to establish Bakazi Foundation.
Bridget’s dream is to build a family of children who are able to learn, grow and work towards their dreams. She believes every contribution can provide more than material help: it can give a child hope, opportunity and confidence in their future.
Guided by faith in God, Bridget hopes that children will receive the same life-changing support she once received. This is the heart behind her work and the reason she founded Bakazi Foundation.
We focus on helping vulnerable and orphaned children enter school, remain in class and continue learning.
Every child is treated as a person with dreams, strengths and a future—not simply as a need to be solved.
We listen carefully to children and families and respond to the practical barriers affecting education.
We work alongside the people already caring for children and strengthen the support around them.
We explain sponsorship needs and arrangements directly before a supporter makes a commitment.
Our work is guided by faith in God and the belief that opportunity can change the direction of a child’s life.
Five programmes that run together, because the problems they address never arrive one at a time.

Meet the childrenBridget was raised by her mother, who often struggled to meet school fees and scholastic needs.
An organisation supported Bridget’s education, helping her remain in school and eventually reach university.
Bridget met village children who wanted to learn but lacked the resources and opportunities they needed.
Her own experience inspired her to create Bakazi Foundation and extend that opportunity to other children.
The foundation connects vulnerable children with education, meals, scholastic materials and people willing to support their future.
Every sponsorship can help a child remain in school with the support they need next term. More than 100 children need support, and new profiles are added as their information becomes ready to share.
